    Coke oven gas (COG) is a byproduct of the coke-making process, primarily used in the steel industry. It's a valuable source of hydrogen due to its composition, which typically includes:   
    • Hydrogen (H₂)

    • Carbon monoxide (CO)
    • **Carbon dioxide (CO₂)

    Extracting Hydrogen from Coke Oven Gas
    To extract hydrogen from COG, several methods can be employed:
    1.Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA):
    • This method involves passing the gas mixture through a bed of adsorbent material, which selectively adsorbs impurities like CO₂, CO, and N₂, leaving behind a high-purity hydrogen stream.   
    2.Membrane Separation:
    • A membrane separation process uses a selective membrane to separate hydrogen from other gases in the mixture. Hydrogen, being a small molecule, can pass through the membrane more easily than larger molecules.   
    3.Cryogenic Distillation:
    • This method involves cooling the gas mixture to very low temperatures, causing the components to liquefy. The different components can then be separated based on their boiling points.

    • Abundant Supply: As a byproduct of the steel industry, COG is readily available.
